Has anyone figured out a workaround for a loosey-goosey L285/345 steering gear box?? The wornout OEM are expensive if they can be found. Surely someone has found another box that with a little southern engineering can be made to work. Be nice if an 8N/9N box would be a close fit as they are everywhere. I mean 4 bolts holds it to the top of the transmission and an arm down the left side attached to a tierod. Steering shaft sticking up in the air.

If you want to upgrade it, look at hydrostatic steering setups, it's what Kubota did on newer models.

Tell me more, I'm new to working on tractors. Who makes them or where to find out more. After the tinware hit every tree on someones property it wasn't used much. Probably spent it's life outside. It shows less than 1k hours and is stronger than horseradish.

It's not something that you can buy out of the box, it would take some sourcing and fabricating on you own.
Things you would need to know, is that kubota uses an open hydraulic system, and you want a steering controller that does not have centering or feedback.
Look at systems for rock crawlers.
