I have had an L2800 for several years now, currently has 600 hours on it without a lick of trouble. I rarely see any posts related to the L2800. Is it because it is a rare tractor, or is it that reliable?
I have assumed during the 10 years as a member here...that the lack of posts regarding problems for the L2800 means I made a good decision...and is a good thing.
I have learned ALOT on this site...all very much appreciated. I love mine, beat the hell out of it...over service it...and love having it. The L2800 was recommended to me by the dealer I bought it as a harvest return from...he was right. It has never been back to him...
Worked on maybe 20, and a majority were normal servicing, or PM. Some insurance jobs (flood, tornado).
My boss bought one that a lady couldn't pay for any longer; had 19 hours on it when he bought it-they owed $9400 and that's all she would take for it. He tried to give her $15k, she wouldn't take any more than payoff. Boss kept it for a while and it sat mostly...after, gosh, 9 years, he accumulated another 41 hours on it at which time he decided to sell it. He offered it to me for $10k cash, so he could make a little bit on it as well as pay for the 50 hour service (which I did). I shoulda bought it instead of this Massey I have (1145), but a $600 working Massey is better than a payment.
