Once the brush guard was completed:
it was time to move on to fabricating a skid plate to protect the hydraulic filter and hose manifold. I've seen the aftermarket offerings but needed something more then a sheet metal shield. With plenty of scrap on hand I dug out a sheet of 3/16 steel plate. Once my measurements were taken it was time to cut it out and try bending it where needed. The bending was easier said then done. I had to clamp it to my metal working bench, heat it until red hot, and bend it with an eight pound sledge.
A little final trimming for the rear hyd lines, installing brackets to mount to existing holes on the tractor, wire wheeling all the rusty surfaces, final clean up and painting..........
Then finally mounting it on the tractor.........
There may be a few modifications in the future with additional supports or a cover to keep snow + ice out but for now it's functional and adds the protection I need.
Next is the HST trans filter skid plate.
