L2501 3PH stabilizer problem

Hi guys:

The stabilizers rub against the tires.
Dealer says that's never a problem, something is wrong. But hasn't offered a solution except to say I don't need wheel spacers.

I'm starting to think I need to mount the outer end of the stabilizers inside and under the lift arms which will require some fabrication.

I would really appreciate a picture from someone with this tractor, without the problem.

I have used them for couple years on a L2501 and have had no problems. What implement are you using? Sometimes you can turn the pins around to make it narrower.

Some tractors have interference issues, while others don't- within the same model class. I think that there must be a variance in the rims used, and some have less backspacing. On some, even the turnbuckles will rub. The only option for you is to put wheel spacers on, unless you can, as suggested, turn all of your link pins to the inside of the implement frames.
You can't relocate your stabilizers to the inside of the lift arms.

Thanks a million for the pics NvRudder! The non turnbuckle stabilizer is wider and also connects to the lift arms further out.

Implements are:
RCR1260 on which I had to turn one 3PH pin inside.
FDR1660 on which I can adjust the width Ok.
Kubota weight box which is the biggest problem.

Not sure why I can't move the stabilizers though??
The brackets can be turned around Ok. I would need spacers under them.
Maybe the geometry wouldn't work??

Never tried a kubota weight box , but had one from old yanmar tractor, and my woods mower was never a problem. All the implement are suppose to be built to cat. 1 dimensions but as you found out they vary.

I do not think the correct swaybars are on your tractor. Look at this video at the 8:10 mark. The rear mount looks like it holds the sway bar to far away from the drag arm.


I would check your sway bars against anorher L8340 sway bar set at the dealer.

Orangeman, could you meaure yours? Just to compare the 2 different tractors.

I have those same sway bars on my L3901 with R4 tires. This is not a problem with R1 tires.

In the end you will end up either putting the chains back on or buying a set of wheel spacers.

I have put my chains back on while I wait for a set of wheel spacers. Then I'll put the sway bars back on.

Full schedule 'til Monday so can't do much.
I have R4 tires with inside clearance = 29"

Can you further explain what you are considering? The context of my comment is that you can't move your stabilizers to the inside of the lift arms. The stabilizers have to mount on the base of the tractor in line/on plane with the pivots of the lift arms. That's impossible inboard of the lift arms.
I've built 3,890 sets of stabilizers, as of yesterday. I've built them for L series that had plenty of room between the tires and the stabilizers, and others where the stabilizers were bent around the tires. I've experienced variations in the width between the tires, so it happens. Again, wheel spacers is the best permanent solution to have the necessary space.

I have 29 1/2'' between the tires on mine, I have r14t tires.

Maybe I am missing something, but looks like if you removed the pins and lengthen the stabilizers, they should swing away from the tires.

Yes , But when you pull the stabilizers out the lower links get closer together, sometimes won't fit implement.

I fitted the optional telescopic stabilizers to my L3200 with R1 and my L3901 with R3 turfs, I’ve had no issue with attachments and love the telescopic stabilizers.

based on the photos it looks like the R14 tires and rims create the issue. I would fit 2-3” wheel spacers and keep the telescopic stabilizers.

The problem I had was I couldn't get my arms wide enough for a couple implements because the arms would hit the the tires. They were very close to rubbing too when using a couple implements . Pats quick hitch solved the problem and also made it a lot easier to hook up implements. Then u can turn your implement pins inward if you need to stop the tire rubbing.

I see what you mean now.
The stabilizers must describe the same arc as the lift arms or get bent.

I'm going to get spacers.
