I recently ordered and received the Kubota MX5400/MX6000 workshop manual which was pricey at $186.93 but good to have. I was hoping for a nice Kubota orange 3-ring binder but no luck, just a lot of pages "shrink wrapped".

I picked up an oil filter, transmission filter and hydraulic fluid filter for a cost of $126.63 ... yikes! The dealership mentioned that they don't change the transmission hydraulic filter at 50 hours due to the likelihood of all of the hydraulic fluid leaving the building. I think I need to pick up some new 5 gallon buckets to collect the fluid.

I run Schaeffer 9000 SynShield OTR Plus synthetic oil in my '02 Ford F250 7.3L and plan on running the same in the MX. One case of oil will cover oil changes for both with about 1/2 a quart left over. I like that.

I don't know anything about your MX6000 but I am surprised that the dealer doesn't change the trans filters since it seems very important. This was my experience doing it on my L4701.
It may be totally different from your machine but with the amount of non-magnetic silver metal that I saw and that others have mentioned seeing, that trans filter has got to be changed at the fifty hour mark.
Also, my intentions were good. I was originally going to simply catch the fluid, than filter it and put it back but once I had buckets and stuff in place my plans went to heck.
I wish you luck. :) Enjoy

This was my filter at 125 hrs. The previous owner never did the 50 hr. This is the right side filter, if sitting on machine. Do it fast and you shouldn’t loose much.

Ooops ... it's the hydraulic filter that the dealership doesn't change at 50 hours. I changed my original post.

Thanks for the feedback and advice. I'll be doing the service this weekend since I'm at 48 hours on the MX.

Bark, thanks for the link to your earlier thread. I read through it and found it helpful. No doubt it will be a $hit show getting the transmission filter changed. I will buy some new/clean buckets with the plan to catch and save as much fluid as possible, but as the saying goes "hope for the best but plan for the worst". I should probably buy a gallon or two of trans fluid so that if it goes south I'll have fluid over the weekend.

And Its not like it will go bad right away if you don't use it.

I have 49.6 hours on the MX so changed the oil and three filters this morning without any issues at all. All three filters came off easily but I was surprised by the amount of metal shavings that were stuck to the magnet on the hydraulic filter (see below). I lost the hydraulic oil in the filters and maybe a quart or two more into a bucket when I removed the hydraulic filter on the right side, but had an unopened quart of UDT2 oil that I'd bought for the BX so added that back into the system. After running the hydraulics and checking the sight glass the level looks good but I'll check it again after cutting a friend's field later today.

Loading the MX and RC1884 onto my 22ft trailer has been quite the $hit show this morning/afternoon. I can't get the ramps back up so had to get the MX and cutter off the trailer, remove the ramp springs and then remove the ramps once the tractor is loaded. Ughhhh!!! 😖

Congrats on the 50 hour. My magnet actually had a little more shavings than yours. Guess that's what its there for. Did you have any non-magnetic silver colored stuff come out of the left side filter?

Not that I noticed. I thought that the cast oil pan was cracked but I'm hoping it's just flashing and need to get under the tractor with a light.
