Kubota L2250 PTO grinds when engaging

When I depress the clutch completely down and try to engage the PTO it will grind. The one time I pushed on the PTO shifter it grinded a bit but engaged and operated properly. When I went to shut down the tractor, pushing in the clutch had no effect on stopping the PTO and I had to turn off the tractor with the PTO still engaged. It is as if the clutch works fine for the transmission but has no effect on the PTO.

What am I missing or is there some maintenance I can do to fix this problem? Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you have a 2 stage clutch and the second stage (PTO stage) is not disengaging, common problem with non use, disk and plate become rusted together.
One fix is to load the PTO with a heavy load machine and run it and keep pushing the clutch to try and get it to disengage.
Your other option is to split it and service it.;)
