...not sure if you are asking how to locate a starter... or something else.

Beware, the bendix can be replaced separately for MUCH less money than an entire starter.

Also, the 'safety switches' are KNOWN to be troublesome and make the starter to appear bad when, in reality, it is not getting the proper voltage. Additionally, bad cabes/connectors can do the same thing.

To test for this, connect a voltmeter DIRECTLY to the starter terminals. Monitor the voltage when cranking engine. If you do not see battery-voltage the problem is NOT starter.

You can do "voltage drop" measurements to isolate where the voltage is being dropped in the circuit.
