I pulled the trigger on a 5/16 SSQA plate before the tariffs raise prices so I can mount an old plow blade I had. The blade was from a Craftsman GT6500 and I originally welded a 2” receiver tube to it and bolted a 2” receiver on my bucket. It worked really well but I felt it put a lot of stress on the FEL raising and lowering it - bouncing around like it did even with chains.

So I bolted a wall-mount hitch to the SSQA plate so I can take it off the plate if (when) I get some pallet forks. As others have mentioned the plate was about ¾” from the pins so I just welded on spacers to take up the slack. Since I didn’t shorten the plate I had to grind it to clear the FEL stand adjustment bolts, sits nice and flat now.

And of course no project I do can be completed without spilling some BLOOD!!! I decide that it would be a good idea to grind a slot in my fingernail just deep enough to bleed a river. Right through my welding glove.

Got it done just in time for all the snow to melt (told the wife it’s like shark repellent, it must work because you don’t see any sharks around here do you?). Now I’ll wait for a nice day to clean it up and apply primer and paint.

Nice job on the plow...

Wheels on my finishing mower were getting worn out, still have some life left but decided to buy a couple of replacements now since it will never be cheaper to buy than today!!! Tariffs and what not...

dang NOW you have to buy new welding gloves !!! Nice job and sorry about the finger. I'll 'raise' you TWO big toes though. I'd post pictures but I'm better most here have weak stomachs. Relearning how to walk the past 3 months has been a 'challenge'. My antisnow snowpusher project is now a 'late summer project'.

Shoot Jay - my hang nail is a minor inconvenience compared to your toes, I can't imagine. Hope all goes well for you. A little duck tape might hold the glove together until I get another pair (as long as I don't melt it to my finger LOL).

Oh it's been 'interesting' couple of months. One was bad enough then the 2nd. stairs have been the real challenge and this snow, rain, fog, hot, cold ...yeesh Mother Nature, please settle down and MELT the 5' icy snow drifts around my place.....at 71 I'd appreciate feeling Mr. Sun beaming down on me,please.
I see you buying new gloves about 22 seconds after some weld splatter 'magically' finds the slice in your glove you 'know' was covered .....

hint: get some Vitamin E creme onto your booboo, cover with bandaid for 3 days( do NOT take it off). You should heal up a LOT faster and NO 'hard ,crusty scab to deal with.

looking at your finger again now, reminds me of when I took a skilsaw(bad name for THAT tool ! ) and did a similar cut on my wedding ring finger. it took almost 27 years to get most of the feeling back into it...

had couple 'ingrown toenails removed ( at MY expense NOT a freebie then while 'walking' upstairs to bed, coughed, stubbed left big toe on stair riser..so it got bigger, fast, due to blood rushing in... no family doctor, no ER (10-12 hr wait...) no walkin clinics(after hours).. get 'dr. wife and nurse grandaughter' to heat up blunt paperclip and jab, hard, fast, DEEP into toe.... yeah.... I can swear real good in 6 or 7 languages..... pain went from 15 down to a 'comfortable' 9. NOT the first time using the paper clip trick though.....
