John Deere 4115 HST no 4wd

Found a 03 JD 4115 HST, The 4wd does not work, does not engage the front wheels. Is the JD HST as reliable as the Kubota HST? 2K hrs. Priced right if the 4wd issue is simple.

Know nothing about the tractor.

First place I would look is propellor shaft. From HST forward to front differential. Is a common issue with many tractors.

I had a MF 1528. I was mowing a new hay field an dropped it into a "bull hole". This snapped the welds that held the front axle in place. Long story, short----- new shaft, pinion gear, welding and labor around $1500 total. And that was about 10 years ago.

I preface this with the admission I am not a certified equipment mechanic nor am I an ASE certified truck/car mechanic, so maybe this isn’t worth much.

“The 4WD issue is simple“ is almost exclusively an oxymoron.

see if the lever is loose on it's shaft. If ok, problem is likely going to be deeper.

I had a slightly older JD 4100 model. That is a really good small machine. It’s a rebadged Yanmar and built better than the larger JD compact tractors.

But the 4wd issue could be expensive (or not).
