It wasn't me, but if you wipe it off and reinsert, you can feel the level with your finger. It's also easier to see after taking it out again.

Take my suggestion with caution as it literally just occurred to me and I have no idea if it would have any negative ramifications...

Turn the yellow stick black with a sharpie.

Gotta catch the light just right on it. We just changed oil vendors at work. New 15w40 in the bulk tank is clear  If it's not in natural light, it can be a bear. We've had to have our delivery driver show the customers that there is actually oil in the equipment, or else it's the phones ringing off the hook.

Course we had one vendor deliver some with a purple die in it

I lay it on a clean white paper towel, the fluid marks the paper and much easier to see the level or get the light angle just right and it will shine a little. The fluid will also wick on the paper so gotta be quick.

I cut a short piece of blue shrinktube and carefully positioned it to be extend no further up the stick than the full mark. The tube extended slightly past the tip of the dipstick, leaving the end profile evident after the tubing shrank. The raised marks on the dipstick face have been conformed to by the shrinktube as it drew down, offering an elevated grip on the stick.
