Has anyone done this? Having 5 individual tines on mine, adjusting up/down is a pain. Not being able to do it on the fly is a draw back as well.

I Have the HD EA model and it looks like it would be easy enough to fab it up using a small piston.

Any of you guys tackle this yet?

interesting idea...with at least 2 options
1) a single big cylinder with lots of metal fabbing
2) 5 small cylinders, far less metal fabbing

lifting all 5 with 1 big cylinder might be tricky without 'binding'
one of those 'gotta see it ,to decide' projects.
also consider you'll need 1 'remote' for it.

I too would like to see this in action - the ability to "lock" the scarifier in place while engaged in the ground might be part of the problem - then again hydraulic pressure should hold it in place.

Could you mount a horz bar the is attached to all 5? and a short throw cylinder raise and lower?

Or would it have to be designed to have a pivot point in it to accommodate a longer cylinder?

Or design a sliding pivot point - as the cylinder retracts ..... the pivot pushes down on the teeth, a spring could be used to draw back under hydraulic pressure too?

Whatever way - it would interesting to see the fabrication!

I think I am going to go with a single bar directly above the rippers. A single 1.5x6" piston to move it up and down.

I have 3 rear remotes so this would complete the box blade for me - Top/Tilt/Rippers.

In theory, the piston is only lifting the weight of the box so the weight isn't much to consider, it is more the violence of the rippers function that will be the challenge to accommodate.

All 5 would be tricky without binding, but all 5 individually would need some hydraulic balancing to keep them from raising and lowering all the way one at a time. And you'd need to multiply the components/cost.
It looks like Land Pride has it nailed. Copy that.

Sleddog - - I'd like to see that. I only have 4 on my BB, and it is a pain sometimes. I'm 100% manual but really like my boxblade.

Have gotten some great results with it with a BX, even with their 1/4-inching 3PH..

Seems like Brian from Fit-Rite Hydraulics, "Mt.ViewRanch" has one with powered shanks...

I have sourced most of the materials and will start fabricating today after all the snow removal.

I needed a 3x3x3/8 angle so picked up a stick of that for 105.00 So far all the other metal I have sitting. I have the interface to the scarifers done. Next, I'll fab up the mount for the cylinder.

I have one of my sons working on it with me so he is getting some welding time that he loves.

Dont you just hate it when you come up with a great idea , only to find our somebody else already did it

No, what I really got burned on was having a great idea BEFORE anyone else did. I got a patent for it and everything; unfortunately it was a product before its time...

I knew these were made, but I have never seen one 60", they have always been bigger. The home brews I have seen would not quite work on the EA model I have.

Getting there. I need to build the doghouse for the top of the piston. It is not as tall as it looks in the picture. It is about 4" above the top hitch pin. One side benefit of this project is I am adding about 100lbs to the box.

Fortunately, There is enough slop in the scarifiers to allow for the radius from pinning it to the back. Full motion is about 5-1/2".

I have been impressed with the new steel saw. I have at least a hundred cuts with it now and it is still on the first blade. The thickest so far was 1/2" stock and it cut right through tit.

All those 3x3x3/8" angles it cuts in one pass.

I think the percussion from entering and finishing the cut on these hand-held saws will do as much damage to the blade as the actual cutting.

I took note of the circular saw picture....made for steel? What kind of blade?

Why that over a chop saw or angle grinder with cut-off wheel? Just curious.

The project looks great so far. Looking forward to your progress.

Really neat, and it's great your son can melt some wire. My son likes to do that also when he's back home, even if just running beads on some plate.
