Hi-

How many gallons of liquid ballast should be put into the rear tires of a BX2360 to get to approximately 75% full? I think the tires are 26x12-12.

Thanks!

About 10 gallons per tire or 83 pounds of water. Rim Guard is about 110 pounds.

at that little weight,it'd be safer to just bolt on wheel weights. if you run a mower, you can take the weights off unlike 'liquid in the tires'.
if used as loader 'counterweight', consider a 3ph carryall/weith or a 3ph concrete ballast box.
which of the 3 options depends upon your use of tractor....

I would think that in Vermont there might be a few hills and the liquid in the tires will lower the center of gravity. The addition of 200 pounds will make a large difference on the small tractor.

He could add the water to the tires for the rest of the summer to see if this improves the usefulness of the tractor. If it works then drain some of the water out and add RV antifreeze to prevent the icing issues.

The addition of wheel weights will also help make for a safer tractor.

I run a Wheel Horse with ag tires loaded with water and wheel weights. Being that it is a 2 wheel drive these additions allow me to mow in areas that were undoable without the additional weight.

As to the problems with liquid filled tires, Rim guard or RV antifreeze, or winter weight windshield fluid are not that big of a problem if you get a flat tire. If the extra weight prevents the rear of the tractor from coming off the ground I can contend with the mess made by the liquids.

And after getting a new roof on the house I got my first flat rear tire in 20 plus years of owning the tractor. Thanks to the roofing crew.

Jack the rear wheels off the ground, then put in as much as the tire will take with the valve stem at the top.

If you are looking to maximize stability, consider foam filling your tires. Most weight you can get, but not cheap. $450 here in Pittsburgh last week to foam fill four tires on a BX23S. No more flats is a side benefit.
