I have to use OTT from my DuckDuckGo app on my phone which is kind of cumbersome, but it works. Any possibilities to get an app for Android and Apple phones?

TractorByNet has an app that works pretty well.

I may be dense, but either chrome on Android or Safari on an Apple works fine. What do you want an app to do/

Use your web browser.

The original purpose of "apps" was to allow websites to work properly on apple devices because the browsers were sub standard and a lot of websites just didn't work.

Apps main purpose now is to act as mini tracking devices and spam delivery devices to monetize and sell your personal information. Web browsers can only gather so much personal info. Apps can gain access to your contact lists, device usage, GPS to track your personal location 24x7, photos, text messages, email, phone calls, non app usage statistics,...and upload this data to nefarious and/or benign cloud servers to give you a better user experience.
