Just finished making this.. I had the reciver from my trailer wench project I haven't got to..

Made from a galvanized trailer axle from a rusted out trailer I cut up when I lived in the Florida keys and big grade 8 bolts.. took about 3 hours to make.. hardest parts was cutting the top link bolt with a sawzaw..

Not sure what's going on with my welder but I kept getting burn back even after a new tip... hummm

Going to paint it kubota orange!

Very nice project, but......

???

What in the world is a "trailer wench"?

I know what a "beer wench" is.

I know what a "winch" is, and I have seen a winch

Lol.. it's a cute blond that pulls old broke equipment onto my trailer.. her name is Olga and she is from Sweden and her hobbies include body building and dead pulling semi trucks up a 3% grade with a harness, I would post her picture but she is camera shy.. rigghhttt

No.. it's a winch.. I cant spell

Glad we got past the galvanized metal fumes question! :) My first thought too...

Wondering why you did not just weld in pins rather than threaded bolts. Seems like both will work but the smooth surface of the pins would be better...

if if it were me the answer would be: It is what I had on hand! ;)

It actually was what I had on hand.. cutting the grade 8 bolt with a Sawzall was the biggest pita.. and when I welded it on it came out crooked.. doh!

Should of drilled holes for a long bolt but by the time I got there I was getting tired and it was 96 with 85% humidity.. can always do that later.. have yet to test it with my car hauler

I also plan to add a gusset under the reciver hitch and two on top of it but I would have to make some..

What I really need is a plasma cutter
