I tried searching but couldn't find the answer.

When parking the tractor for the day, is it better to leave pressure on the hydraulics, i.e. FEL up, etc. or down to relieve pressure on the seals?

Thanks

Someone parked loader in garage, bucket up over something, and it leaked down overnight, thinking it was a toolbox, not someting i would like to find the next morning. I left one up overnight to see how much it actually leaked down after replacing near everything. only time.

Thanks, that is what I thought and what I have been doing. The only reason I asked is that I went by an equipment rental place and they had everything raised???

The only way to safely leave the loader up and walk away would be to install a cylinder lock on one of the lift cylinders. Many construction equipment companies include a cylinder lock brace with their loaders as standard equipment to use when working on and under a lifted loader.

Yes, the local rental yard (and they have 8 locations) has their equipment high in the air. It's their way of getting the passerby's attention.

This was taken from their internet site.

Manlifts are different animals, cylinders have lock valves.in the event of a hose failure they will not drop.
But i have seen all kinds of equipment with the buckets left up in the air. One big no-no was a guy raised loader on bobcat and exited machine under bucket. Makes me shudder just thinking of it.

Thanks Richard and same to you.

I see that you have a few years on me (26 vs 22). When they told me that my next assignment was the Pentagon, I put in my papers.

I keep the snowblower slightly off the ground and the FEL bucket tipped forward and slightly off the ground in case of thaw/freeze.

All I can add is with mining equipment you always put it on the ground.
1 for safety
2 it takes strain off the seals and such, but then mining stuff get beat up pretty hard to begin with

Well, we really do not have that problem here. When we got the surprise 12" of snow last year, I used the bucket in "float" to clear the driveway.

That's the difference of 15° of latitude. For you, 12" of snow is a memorable surprise. For us, it's day 1 of a 3 or 4 day storm...
