I’ve recently acquired a G1900 ride on mower and the PTO only stays engaged if you hold the lever down. When you take your hand off is disengages and the lever moves back. After spending many hours trying to solve the problem I’ve noticed:

1-the PTO return spring appears to be missing
2-the belt retaining screw is missing although I don’t think this is causing the issue
3- the PTO lever doesn’t appear to be able to move forward as far as others I’ve watched on YouTube. The lever makes contact with the metal inside when it’s in a near vertical position.

The photos illustrate the above.

It would be great to get this resolved and any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

don't have your machine but, in the 2nd picture, the orange piece appears to be bent.
clues are 1) cable touching left side , 2 ) rust near the inner corner 3) angled from switch

An online parts place ( Messicks or Kubota ) should have parts drawings that may show what I mean better, as well as price of that part.

If the welds look 'OK', I'd try to straighten the part out.
hope this helps

Hi Jay,

Thanks for your message. After reading your comment I took a closer look at the back of the lever and you were spot on it was bent preventing the lever from moving into the fully engaged position.

I’ve now straightened it and the lever is able to rotate to the stop. Issue now seems obvious with hindsight!

Thanks again and have a good day.
Danny
