I've always used the foot throttle for cutting, but I've heard where some folks exclusively use the hand throttle. I was taught to use the foot throttle and power up to speed with hand throttle for pto speed. but then once that is done stay in low gear 3 or 4 for cutting and use foot throttle. any input?

The only experience I've had with both has been either sets the engine speed. I just used the hand throttle. My Kubota has an HST transmission. I set the hand throttle for the correct engine rpm for the PTO then use the foot control to set my ground travel speed. The engine runs the same speed the whole time.

I'm confused... the hand and foot throttle do the same thing, only difference is the foot throttle will not lock on a speed.
So trying to keep the pto speed up while bouncing around sounds like a ton of work.
