some Mx’s, standard Ls, LX’s and a few bx’s out front. The crated tractors appeared to be mostly L’s.

I’m waiting on that swing to a buyer’s market, too. Wife wants a BX. She doesn’t have it yet, but it’s just a matter of when.

Wife wants a BX.
Me too!

I was looking at them in 2019, about pulled the trigger on a 23s, but ended up getting the backhoe for my L instead. Still want to get a BX though to replace the Case garden tractor.

My wife wants to get something with a belly mower for finish mowing. She wants the ability to run a small rotary cutter or flail for rough mowing in tight areas. Maybe forks for moving things. Having a little machine that can run on the yards would be a nice complement to the L, which is a bit beefy for yard work.

There are a lot of BX23S on the used market. I have seen them selling for $12-14 thousand with 200-300 hours on them. A lot of these machines are being sold by rental companies when they replace them with new machines. Last week when I went by my local Home Depot they didn't have any BX or small excavators on the lot. I would love to know where they send them to auction because I would like a small excavator. I only wish that they would auction them off locally.

I’ve been waiting patiently 🤣
Keep your patience going.
I suspect that about this time next year, a BX (new or lightly used) will come to you at a price that you will be pleased with.

You could probably get the answer to your question by asking the store manager where they're sold. Often times rental yards do not sell items locally because they don't want one of their customers buying them. If they have a desire to purchase they probably rent often!

Many of us often get the terms "want" and "need" conflated!
There's a hierarchy of words. Want, need, deserve. Deserve is the most powerful...and you surely do deserve a tractor.

been waiting patiently for prices of mini-excavators to drop. I don't think it will ever happen...

When the economy tanks, they will become plentiful on the used market. Yesterday I saw a big 2022 Kubota excavator that was for sale for the balance on the note. $135,000! I have no idea what it costs, but I know I could rent one for much less than buying one. With a machine like that, you have to work for it every day of the week to keep up with the payments.

Yep. As much as I'd like an excavator I could never justify the expense. A backhoe for the M, maybe. I saw a nice used L47 backhoe for sale in my area recently and called the local dealer to see if it would fit on the M and was told a big fat no.

Same here. I would love to have a mini-ex, but I could never justify even the price of a used one. As easy as it would make some jobs, I just wouldn't use it OFTEN enough to make it worth it.

What goes up must come down? One would hope but we all seen prices stay high on vehicles.

;)
For how little I use my BX23S, I really couldn't justify its purchase, however, since I am old, I am spending other people's inheritance and will be leaving them with the problem of selling everything to get what meager amounts that will be left to divide among themselves.
I would continue this discussion, however, I am going to pick up my new $135,000 excavator. I just hope that the new VW that I bought last week is up to pulling the trailer that the excavator came with.
