I wanted to remove the charging outlet from the dash of my B2650 with cab, and am not seeing how it comes out.

Anyone done this on this or any other tractor?

There does not appear to be any type of retaining ring or threads.

The back, behind the dash, appears to have ribs to keep it from pulling out. Nothing to depress like a switch.

The bezel does not appear to turn or pop off. Maybe it does pop off or is a one time thing, but did not want to destroy it if unnecessary.

Thanks

Well, it does unscrew from the back.
There is a sleeve that screws on to the threads at the bottom of the outlet.

Here is my reason for removing plug. I reused the hot side of the factory plug, needed a bit of customizing as it is 5/16" not 1/4" male. Ran a separate ground, for now. Did not want to destroy factory plug, yet.

I wanted a USB port instead and this has a voltmeter, too.

Who would have thought it was always hot?! Well, I'll see how much it drains the battery and maybe have to rewire or add a switched relay.

I put one of the LED voltmeters on my Zero turn.

I thought how much could a little LED draw being on all the time.

The battery went dead between cuts.

I'll check it out tomorrow and periodically after that and update my findings.

I leave my Magellan GPS on in my car all the time and it may sit for a couple weeks. No issues at all.

There is not a timer that turns off the power? On my work van, after about 15 minutes all accessory power is turned off. Open a door and it's restored.

I put a remote relay panel in it a while back, there is a little blue light on it, for some LED strip lights in the cab. I went out to start it after about a week of no use and it was dead. Don't know for sure if that is what killed it or not, but had no issues before that. I did use it more regularly, though.

hmmmmmm...11.7 isn't very good for a '12 volt' battery.......
it 'should' read around 13.2

so 2 possibles..
1) battery really is 11.7... you've got a problem with battery or charging parts...

2) module isn't calibrated... some do have pots to 'trim' reading.

today's vehicles have a LOT of always ON electronics....the 'computer' ( can be 1-2-3-5 of them ) ,alarm systems, OBDII insurance savers, airbag systems, seatbelt computers, sigh....

I'll try to remember to check it with a meter, too.

Went out Sunday and display was 7.2.

Checked it with a meter, 7.26.

Of course, too low to start so I threw on the charger. Did a few things and started it up to charge it fully.

I will pull the fuse, for now, to see how long it goes before getting to this level again.

well good news is the USD/DSP units reads properly...
bad news is , it's draining the battery.
can you rewire to a 'switched' power, maybe a 'cheater on the fuse panel ?

That is my next project, to find a switched source and use a relay.

For now, pulled the fuse. It is the only thing on that fuse, so no loss and it's a quick fix to use/disable.
