I have replaced the seal and bearings on the front left axle on my l2250. I am having trouble with the split ring and collar. It will not fit tight like it was when I removed it. Is it broken should it have been one piece?

It is 2 piece. There is a gap.

Sounds like you may not have completely removed the old ring
