Is it necessary to keep records of all service I preform logging hours and dates and what I did? I will likely track that stuff anyway but just wondering...

I was told to do that when I bought mine a week ago. Dealer stated it was fine for me to do the maintenance, just save the receipts and log the date and hours at time if service.
