Hello All, This is my first post here although I lurked as a guest for a bit. 5 years ago I bought a house in Wisconsin and it was sitting on 18 acres. The house had a Kubota B2150 (with loader) sitting in the garage for whatever reason when I made an offer on the place I asked for the tractor to be included. I didn't know at the time how useful and important it would end up being!!
For the first few years I had it serviced at a dealership and that got old (and expensive) quick. Then just after a service visit where they rehabbed the MMM that had been sitting for 10 years (to the tune of 700 bucks for gearbox service/belts and quite a bit of work to free up the casters/wheels) when I started mowing with it I failed to notice that this was the first task that actually heated up the engine a bit. Partially because of RPM but also because the b2150 has the front firing fan (for "operator comfort") and this just sucks the grass off the front tires and into the side grills/rad/hydro rad. At some point during this my water pump decided to give up and I really didn't want to send it right back for dealer service. So I got the manual, ordered from Messicks (they are a lifesaver) and replaced every hose and clamp, replaced the t-stat,water pump and gasket and fully flushed the radiator (and cleaned the fins). Worked great, no real problems since except that I still have to watch the temps on a hot day using the MMM.
I find working on the tractor oddly relaxing and honestly couldn't imagine living without one at this point.
I had a list of fall jobs including glow plug replacement (which requires the intake to come off) and was going to replace the upper steering column bushings and remember watching a video on Youtube regarding water getting into the steering column. I can't find it now and noticed that all but two of the Orange tractor talks videos are now gone. These were fantastic on giving me the confidence to tackle the more common jobs so I'm hoping they are hiding somewhere and you all can direct me to them.
