The one that I bought last winter has a 1 x 3 inch post coming up from the frame. Ones that I seen in videos don't have this post. This comes with no directions. Anyone know about this post.

If I did this right there should be two pictures of what I am talking about with this dolly. Also seems strange that the post is not centered along the frame. I think the backhoe bucket must go over this?

I have a homemade dolly with plywood landing points no dowel pins. The pin on yours looks like it's there to locate on the bucket pin. If the pin was centred you would hit the bucket cylinder when un-mounting the hoe. You might want a spotter the first time you use it to make sure you don't hit your cylinder rod.
