I have my M6800 split to deal with a shuttle shifter issue. Figured that since I was in the neighbourhood I might as well inspect the clutch. Should I be worried about these small cracks in the flywheel?

Those are just heat cracks, if you aren’t replacing the clutch I wouldn’t worry about it. If your putting a new clutch in it then you can possibly get it resurfaced if you have a machine shop near by that can do it or get a new flywheel.

I would wait for wolfman to answer though, I believe he may have mentioned a reason to not have a tractor flywheel machined at one time.

What is all the debris in the center hole of the flywheel? That would cause me more worry then the heat cracks.

Here's a direct quote from NIW last August.
DO NOT resurface the flywheel, even taking the smallest of amount off the flywheel can make them not work properly.

I tell people that split them for a stuck clutch just take a 220 Grit paper on a sander and give it a quick buff that's it.
Break the glaze by sanding with a DA or palm sander and reuse it. Replace your parts and don't forget the throwout and pilot.

You do not resurface Kubota Flywheels, it changes the dimension too drastically and the clutch will not work properly after resurfacing, and this is not my opinion it's states such in most of the WSM's for these engines. ;)

Just buff up the surface off with a sander and some 220 grit paper and call it good.

EDIT:
Pau7220 beat me too it! :p

The 'boulder' and other 'debris' is actually a fine powder that is packed around the clutch housing and falls off in clumps. My guess is ghost of clutch plates past.

Thanks for the input... I didn't really want to buy a new flywheel. :)
