I'm trying to determine if a more current pin-on bucket from a Kubota LA525 Front-end Loader will match up to my Kubota BF400S loader arms. From their illustrated parts lists I find the new bucket part # 7J285-50100 leads me nowhere. The other reference is a more generic Bucket60 or BKT60. Needless to say the pin spacing, mount dimensions, etc. don't pop up on their website.

Any of you know or can point me to where I can look the specs up myself?

Regards,

Clay

Sorry it's so late, Just got home. Hope this helps.
Wow! Thanks Mike. That is an outstanding explanation of the dimensions. I'm heading out to double check against my bucket now. The only thing missing is if you could tell me the distance between the pins and the back of the bucket for both top and bottom.

My bucket is configured a little different from you drawing. If I interpret yours correctly where yours is 37" from inside mount to inside mount, mine is 38 1/2". Where yours is 43 1/2" from outer edge inside mount to outer edge inside mount, mine is 43 1/4". I measured everything twice and cannot explain the 1/4" discrepancy. Where your mounts are 3 1/4" I.D. mine are 2 1/2". Also I believe my pins to be 1" but only 4 1/2" long and the center of the pin to the back of the bucket appears to be 2 1/2" for both the top and bottom. Per my manual the bucket is 60" wide, 20.4" deep and 17.8" high. Struck capacity is 7.5 cu.ft., Heaped capacity is 9.5 cu.ft., 176 lbs. empty. Mine's been pushed around and I don't get 60" wide any more. :)

Unless the mounts on your bucket are more shallow it seems like my loader arms would fit inside the newer bucket mounts but would need some washer or bushings to take up some slack. Very encouraging.

What do you find so perplexing???
They are different builds on different models with different rams and different mounting points. ;)

Of course there are. Would be nice if there were an online reference one could consult (yes for free)to determine what alternatives might work. Who said it is perplexing?

I had a line on a bucket and wanted to determine if it would work with my loader. Mike's info helps a bunch!

Here's the other dimensions you wanted.
Mike,

I may have found the same bucket. Struggled a bit to get my old bucket off, get the new bucket home and where I could get up to it with the bare loader but other than being by myself and crippled it all went pretty well. When I knocked the old pins out I just put them in a old coffee can and covered them with diesel. I knew they were too short for the new bucket and having read a couple of threads on here I'd seen where others had used hitch pins as a replacement. Ran all over the country yesterday until I found 4 hitch pins, machinery bushings and shaft collars to shim it all up and installed the two lower pins with some effort. Got ready to do the two upper pins and they won't go in. Turns out the 1" pins a a couple thousands too large. Its an abrupt way to learn that 25mm is a tad smaller than 1 inch. Bummer.

Talk about naive...I pulled one of my pins out of the diesel, cleaned it up and discovered the reason it had so much more grease on it than I'd been able to work in those hitch pins is its hollow and has a zerk fitting on the end. Actuallly very nice and I tried it in the new loader mounts and it fit perfect, just too short by approximately an inch.

A search on the web is not working out since I don't have a part number on this bucket and don't know a pin part # either.

I've left a message with the dealer and haven't heard back. Yall have any suggestions?

you might try messicks.com. They have parts listings on their website. LA524 might be the same, it fits last years 3800 model.

Funny you should mention them. I use them, Golden Eagle and Coleman's routinely in my searches. My nearest dealer did get back with me and had two pins in stock so back I went. Turns out they only worked in the lower holes so I ordered two different pins and hope they'll solve the issue later next week! My spare parts pile keeps growing.

Update - the new pins came in and are the correct length and style but they are the same size as the others and will not go thru the ends of my rams. I mic'd and my old loose fitting pins are approximately .002" smaller than the new ones. I've got a call in to a buddy with a lathe to see if knocking a thousandth off would do the trick but am amazed that none of the new pins will pass thru the old rams since you'd think they'd be worn a little anyway. Is there a secret to this?
