This may have been asked before but I didn't find any threads raising this question. All of these tractors seem to use the same D1305 series motor, but the B2920 looks like its power is rate @ 2800 rpm, vs 2500 rpm with the newer B2650/LX2610. Is there a rev limiter on the newer machines that prevent them from getting this power output? Or is it simply just a rating on paper to satisfy the emission requirements and all of you that own either of new newer machines can run 2800rpm? Or has the newer version of this motor been tuned for less power?

Same engine, lower revs. They tuned it down to get under the threshold.

I believe they have a governor, but can be tweaked to go to 2800 RPM. The problem is that usually horsepower is rated at PTO speed, because PTO is where you want the HP. So getting more revs may help if you're looking to put power on the ground - you'll have more HP. But if you're looking to run a snowblower or a mower or a chipper, then they don't really like running at higher than PTO speed.

Having said that, on my BX that seems to have a maladjusted governor, I can get out to 3500 revs v's the rated 3300. And my chipper and mower don't seem to mind.

Simply put, they are the same d1305 overall with a different "tune" putting out the same ~54.5 ft lbs of torque at their rated rpm.

I'll send a pm with more details
