Crunching sound in front axle. L3400

I have a crunching sound in the front axle when operating in two wheel drive on a smooth road with the loader loaded or not loaded. The noise goes away in four wheel drive. The tie rods are loose but not excessively. There is oil in the axle and no leaks. The wheels are on tight. Do you have any ideas? Thanks

Did you check the lug nuts?

It probably is a bearing. Jack it up and turn the wheels by hand.

I did this and get a ruff sound, not so much a bad bearing sound. If you jack your front tires and spin them, what sound do you hear.

You may have to disconnect the drive shaft and start isolating and eliminating each item one at the time.
