I have been having trouble extending/connecting the PTO shaft on my brush hog (Woods - BB72X), and finish mower (Woods - PRD7200).. I followed some of the suggestions on how to properly clean and lube the inner/outer metal shafts, and that really helped in that area.

However once reassembled, I discovered that most of my problem was, and remains, the resistance between the inner/outer plastic shields as they telescope in and out. Is there any solution to make this telescope smoothly?

Your thoughts and suggestions would really be appreciated.

Try Fluid Film. Doesn't attract dirt/crud, etc.

I get it at Lowes.

Kubota dealers sell it as well, that's what they use on the pins etc. More money than Lowe's, I bought several cans on line (ebay) for cheap money.

I use silicone spray where dust, dirt, etc. are present. It works great and little cheaper than fluid film which I also use.

I have 2 sliding compound miter saws and I even use it on the slide rails and even the fine saw dust does not stick to the rails.

Good luck
