Nothing led up to my BX's tilt steering to break just got on it one day and its frozen in the up position. I removed the intake screen and the upper cowl and took a good look. All linkage is in place, nothing loose or damaged. I lubed everything up and it won't budge, Anyone else have this happen that can give me some guidance? And NO I dont hang on or pull on the steering wheel getting on and off the BX. Thanks!

I took the shock off today only two cotter pins. The shock is frozen. Im calling the dealer. We shall see if they send a service truck. Not worth towing it back and forth. I would put it on myself but im sure thats a no no as Its still under warranty! Ill let everyone know what happens. Ive been happy with my dealer so far.

I looked at the diagram, there's a nut, I assume to adjust the shock relative to the 'lever'. Might just need a turn or two ?
Have 800+ hrs on my 4 yr old, haven't seen that problem.

Only 590 hrs on my 4 year old machine! Yes the nut adjusts how much push there is to the pin on the end of the shock, but the shock is still frozen in place. I even removed the shock and pushed the pin in all the way, Its a no go!

I kind of jumped the gun here. I should have looked at my paperwork before stating that this was under warranty. This part will cost me $150! Gotta have it though. Without the shock the wheel flops around trying to steer it!

New part is in! Nice to have my tilt steering back! I was kind of surprised this part failed with just under 600 hours on the machine. I doubt in that time I tilted the wheel all that much and from the responses maybe it doesnt happen all that often? There is a warning on the part label that kinda made me giggle.....

they are the same design Polaris and Kawasaki use on some of their side-by-sides. Yes I have had to replace quite a few of them. Just got through doing one on an old Ranger 700. Easy on those, but the BX isn't as easy. Nothing on a BX is easy.

yeesh, $150 for the shock...... I'd probably THOUGHT about using 50-100 rubber bands....... ;)
Well it does come with the lever and new end on the shock and I agree, $150 is steep but im sure nothing for a Kubota is cheap! I was hoping the shock only provided push and the wheel would lock in place by something mechanical then I would have just removed it! Unfortunately, there is nothing mechanical that locks the steering wheel in place. It is the job of the shock alone to push and lock the steering in place so keep that in mind when you grab the wheel! Without the shock the wheel just flops around!
