It's been a hard start this year. Everything I've touched has broke down. Hyd line on my L3000. Then my lift cylinder on my mower. About set my baler on fire with a bad bearing today and my L3000 started running hot.

This is what I wanted to get to. Just changed the antifreeze and put a new fan belt on. Everything was fine then it just hit all at once. It never overheated but would run way up and take forever to cool down. Long story short the thermostat was stuck closed. $35 for one and a new gasket and it's good as new.

At least it was a somewhat cheap fix at the $35 parts and no damage to the tractor. Lots of moving parts in all of those units and attachments your operating in flammable conditions. Be sure to keep a fire extinguisher or two handy. Even a pump up water sprayer is handy to have ready if needed.

I keep an infrared thermometer with me when I'm cutting or baling. After a couple of rounds I stop and get a reading, then I have a base idea of when they warm up. And then when I take a break I check again.

That's a good idea.

Bulldog - - sorry it's been a rough start.

The old saying goes make hay while the sun shines.

Even the most simple breakdowns cause so many delays when you're chasing "Mr. Sunshine". I think you've had a lot of rain, so you're trying to catch up, and getting some more complicated problems in the mean time.

Hope it gets better, my friend.

I hate it when stuff turns soft brown and squishy

I must have slipped and fell back in it Skeets. Went out this morning started the tractor and turned the baler on so I could lube the chains. Strange growling noise coming from the rollers. Another bearing going out and to make it worse I just replaced it last year.

This is getting old real quick. I hate sealed bearings. I really think if I could grease them I wouldn't be having this issue.
