Hello all, I have a B7800 and am fine with the machine. I need another tractor and found a B9200 for sale for $7,000. Specs show it at 16 hp at the PTO. Is that gonna work for brush hog work? Thanks!

My old 1939 Ford 9N had about that much hp at the pto and it mowed 27 acres for 15 years pulling a much-too-large 72” Rhino hog as a pull-behind mower (coudn’t lift the heavy thing…but it’d pull it and shred/mow just fine.)

Thanks for the reply. I have one of those 9n tractors and use it for running a chipper and pulling trailers. Since the PTO isn't live I havent used it for mowing. I'm dealing with blackberry invasion and want to be able to back in to clumps and drop the mower while it is still under power. The B7800 does that well but I need it for other tasks. I was hoping the B9200 would be strong enough. Concerned about hydrostatic vs gear drive. Would hate to overwork the tractor and ruin the hydro.

Sorry about the typo on the title. should read B9200 not B7200. Typing is not my thing....and tractors are also not my area of expertise. Just love them and what they do for us!

Subject to the caveat that its an old tractor with unknown engine wear its fine. You need to worry more about blackberry wounds than the tractor

That will be plenty - as long as your cutter is 5' or less (4' would work better)

^^^^^^

Isn't that the truth. Blackberry vines will nearly pull you off the tractor. They are thick where I live and a constant battle.

I need a cab tractor.

Oh my…are ‘briar pants’ not a thing south of the line?
When its 105°f and 95% humidity out....you don't want to be in long pants.

I'll take a few scratches in order to remain cool.

After you've pushed your way through the blackberries and mowed them for the first time each season...you can go back every month or so and they won't be tall enough to engulf the tractor.

Everything in Deep East Texas grows like in the Amazon, so always cutting, mowing, shredding something.

The hydro will be fine. They are robust, and well suited for mowing. You can change direction without changing the RPM's.

14 HP here.
Original owner brush hogged with a 48" cutter for a decade.
I run a 60" finishing deck for the past 20 years and still going strong.

Should be adequate for a 48" rough-cut mower just about anywhere and a 60" rough-cut mower in some conditions if the cutter is not too heavy for the tractor.
