my experience..get a dedicated mower, I like zero turns for that. Faster, better cuts, more convenient.
Convenience..I have a toro timecutter and it's fast and convenient - hydrostatic, cuts in reverse, etc.
I have an L175 with a woods finish deck..(and have had other manual trans tractors) - with PTO it stops cutting every time I have to stop to shift..can't speed up/slow down on turns so either whip thru turns or mow slower overall...ok, lower HP than newer kubotas but many are still lower HP or close to my zero turn which weights only 540 lbs..cheaper tires, belts, etc when it comes to maintence too.
Some of the bigger zero turns can do 5, 6, even 7 acres an hour...My $3300 26hp 42" mower can do an acre an hour..very small deck. I had a 60" cut tractor and it took 2.5 hours (manual trans) to do what the zt can do in an hour.
