I hope I posted my pictures correctly. I have a 40 year old B7100 and it is leaking from the bottom of the front gearcase just above the front axle frame. I could not see where it was leaking until I removed the front axle assembly. There is an aluminum plug in the bottom face of the gearbox cover and it drips about a half an ounce of engine oil when the tractor is shut off. I ordered a new plug from my dealer and he said just pull the leaking plug and tap in the new plug, no sealant required on the plug.

As I would rather not replace the plug again I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and solved it by drilling and tapping for a pipe plug. Thanks, Larry.

You are asking for more and bigger trouble. Just replace the OEM plug.

Russel,

Attached are (2) pics. One shows the plug I just removed from the bottom of the front gear case. The other pic shows the bottom of the gear case and you will see the hole for the plug that I removed and to the right of that and on the other side of the boss for the cover bolt there appears to be another plug.

I did look at the remainder of the gear case and nothing else looks like a plug. Hope this helps.

Larry

It was really just idle curiosity since I saw two required but only saw one on your previous pictures. Kubota usually points to where both items are used but didn’t in that illustration.

Thank you for taking the time to show where they both belong.
