I'm in the market for a new tractor for my small farm. After using neighbor's and friend's tractors over the years and given my desired budget, I concluded the B2401DT would be a good machine.

When I went to talk to my local dealer he laughed and I didn't want one and wouldn't be able to get one for a couple of years anyway, and proceeded to try to sell me an L2601, which is more machine than I think I need and outside my budget anyway.

Has anyone else in Ontario Canada found the B2401 to be unavailable? Any idea why Kubota would let this happen?

Not in Canada but my guess would be that they are very backed up building tractors and are going to produce the ones in high demand. The 2401 is not that popular around here anyway. With the 84 mo interest free financing you might not be that far outside your budget. I started out looking at the B2401 but ended up with an L2501. Couldn’t be happier.

L2501, or B2601? If it was the B2601 then it's the exact same tractor as the B2401, but with a hydrostatic drive. In this size tractor it would be very unusual for a gear drive to be a better choice than an HST, so your dealer is probably giving you good advice. Like everything, it depends on your usage, but the things that a gear drive is good at aren't the kind of things you'd typically do with a small tractor.

If you don’t need a mid PTO, go with the L 2501.

Thanks for the comment everyone.

According to the Kubota Canada website, the price differences are significant. The B2601 is 4.5k$ more than the B2401.

I had originally looked at the Bx2360 (same price) but my terrain could do with the extra clearance.

The L2501 is only 1k$ more than B2601 so I understand that comment.

I wanted a B2401 because I rather have gear drive. But the financing deal on the LX2610 steered me in that direction.

I have the HST and love it. For anything that requires back and forth movement you will love it. I do a lot with the fel with forks, the bucket, and grapple. Can’t beat it. I have had no issues with it.
