Whats everyone using in the front axles for fluid. The manual says 80-90 or SUTD. Doesn't give any temp ranges or any other info. I live in Maine and use the tractor for snow removal. I also use the tractor in the heat of summer. The SUTD must lube the differential in the rear, because there is no other fluid back there, correct? Not looking to use the cheeper fluid, just the better for lubrication.

I use 85-140 GL5 gear oil and always have. 6000 hours on one, 3000 hours on the other. Never a leak never an issue, cold or hot. I farm with mine so I can have high shock load situations. I find SUDT to be a bit thin

either one is fine

i like gear oil. it leaks out slower when a seal goes south. downside is that you have to be real patient when filling the axle with gear oil, it takes forever for the oil to get past the bearings and down into the hubs.

Sidecar Flip, Are you in the cold climate in winter too?
Absolutely. It's 5 here at this moment and snowing. If I need to tractor later for cleaning the drives, I'll go start it in the barn and let it warm up for 30 minutes before moving it. Always warm it up, besides, I like heat in the cab. Same in the summer, but cool in the cab as in ac.

Actually there is an easy way around the slow fill. Take the bottle of gear oil and microwave it for a minute first. (don't forget to loosen the top first)....lol Have a microwave in the shop I use. My wife would kill me if I used the kitchen one for that stuff.
