We have a 90 acre field of overgrown grass and weeds, we are going to bush hog mow the field but we need to get rid of the grass and weeds that have been cut. Is there another method of disposal besides baling them? Burning it is not an option unfortunately.

Can you safely burn it once it turns brown? Disk the perimeter and divide it into sections so you burn sections at the time to keep it small.

I guess you could rake it and haul it off...what a mess. Or you could dig a massive hole and bury it after raking...

What is your goal for the field? Are you wanting to turn it to hay, pasture or just to maintain it?

Develop on it, reasoning for removing the "clippings" is because we need to strip the top soil and do not want to mix in the old grass/weeds

What are you doing with the top soil that contains the organic materials, roots and materials already on the ground?

Little known secret: Mulching the clippings back into the grass and letting it decay naturally is GREAT for the soil.

I know you're probably talking about 3-4 foot high grass, but I would still consider just chopping it up and let nature do its thing.

Sounds to me like you need to mulch (run the brush hog over and over it), let it rot and in early spring/late winter, RoundUp. Till a few weeks later and reseed.

I know that silage is cut and blown into trailers. You may be able to pay someone to cut it and haul it into a pile for compost.

You may be able to rake it into piles with a York rake and put it into dumpsters with a front end loader. Haul dumpster to composting center or landfill?

I have found that Spring seeding always grows way more weeds than Fall seeding.

Keep cutting it, eventually it will turn into mulch and re-seed a new crop of weeds for you.

BTW I'm not a fan of developers and speculators. I'm not overly sympathetic with developer/speculator "problems" as these are typically self inflicted wounds. Preventative maintenance is a sunk cost.

When you say develop it what do you mean, to sell, build a home for your self, or sell it off in parcels for a housing complex? Or are you going to run horses, or cattle or sheep? Or are you going to clean it up to farm? See each one of those questions has a bit of a different answer, you, may know what you want to do, but with out context it is hard to give advice

Like others, my first thought was just run a 'hog over it again to mulch it.
