I use the inner air filter. It is often extremely dusty when I mow. (I even wear an N95 mask when I mow.) It's just added insurance. FWIW, I clean my air filters, radiator screen, and the radiator every time I mow.

I did a bunch of work in dusty soil during the summer without one, so now of course I am thinking of getting one now that the rains have come. Better late than never

I have been using them on my BX22 for about 10 years and my BX23S since I purchased it. It is the least expensive insurance that you can purchase. I have never seen one get dirty, but then I don't work in a dusty enviorment.

I only have about 70 hours on my tractor, and I've changed the air filter once already, so I think I'm in good shape if I get on it and get that insurance soon!

It’s not listed in the 2501 diagrams (on messicks) but it’s listed in the L3200 diagrams and they have the same air filter housings.

Thanks!
In the video from Messicks they also say which models are crossover. Meaning, which models use that part #.

Huh, I guess I learned something new today. I thought all diesels had a primary and secondary air filter.

Is the secondary filter the same for the BX22 and the BX23S? Is it the same part number as mentioned in the Messicks' video?

I am sure my BX2200 will use the same internal filter as your BX22. Reason for my question...

$$15 in usa @ M, $84 @ Amazon.ca !!!!
I started gathering prices on some basic maintenance parts last night. I dropped Amazon after seeing how much more expensive things are there.

  • It appears that there's an updated oil filter part number. (from Messicks)
  • Issaquah is my local dealer...I haven't gotten a price from them on the inner air filter, so their grand total will increase. Prices are from earlier this year when I actually bought the items listed.
  • Prices do not include shipping ... for Coleman, ground shipping on a basket of each item to Washington state was $12

or C$31 from Kubota... amazon isn't always the cheapest option, especially for things sold through the market place.
True that. I try to avoid using Amazon anyway. But I do like being able to ship to one of their dropstores so I don't have to worry about porch pirates.

I relocated my air filter higher, up and away from the dust. Air filters last about 4x longer now.
To outsmart the dust you must think like the dust.
