seems there was a 'glitch' taking off a carrier in the S China sea and the race is on to see who recovers it. Odds are the Americans, but China has a 'keen' interest in salvaging the plane ,and it's in 'free sea' .

I'm sure one of sub's in the Carrier Task Force is sitting above it as we talk about it.

Ya, saw that news item earlier today. It should make for an interesting weekend at the WH.

We should just destroy it and move on... It happens, it was an overpriced problem anyway. Not worth wasting lives, and more money to salvage. The mere fact it was in one piece to tell civilian news was time enough to put American lives at risk.

Don't worry, china has backup copies of all the designs and software on their servers. They also manufacture many of the parts already.

They only cost 1/50th of the price of the F35, they have 1,000 spares sitting on the tarmac and a billion test pilots to choose from.

The claim is that if it were destroyed, there would still be all kinds of small but highly classified parts spread on the ocean floor for recovery by someone else later...

I am not certain at this point, but this incident may be about the 35 year old Naval aviator who had a Covid vaccine reaction (within 72 hours) while trying to come aboard, and ejected, apparently just prior to hitting the carrier round down.

Rescued, and determined to have Myocarditis.

Bond movie had Vulcan bomber, 2 nukes, in Bahamas with I think Jill St John ??

I'm wondering if the sailor who shot/leaked the video will be courtmartialed ??
That seems to be just as serious as the crash. As in, 'what else has he taken video of'....????

No opinion, but I would guess it depends if there are restrictions on taking videos of landings, or restrictions on posting videos of failed landings...or any landings for that matter.

That video did not show much other than the airplane was coming in to land. Naturally an expert might see other things that the normal viewer man not perceive.

But even then, common knowledge is that things went bad, and the aircraft ended up in the drink.

such a bad ass airplane 🇺🇸

i cant help it... just one more... F-16. i love the GPWS going off in this one during 630 knot pass, no ****s given
The second video, where the view was forward, felt like it was a guy riding a motorcycle rather than controlling a fighter aircraft.

Must be a real experience to pilot one of those...
