What does it do? Just got the tractor and have it in the warm shop but can't seem to figure it out. It isn't the ones that run the grapple it is farther down the lever.
Are you referring to the metal tab that comes out of the plastic housing?

A photo would be a GREAT help.

The attached pages from a Kubota loader manual should help.

Unless you have the self leveling loader, one which keeps the bucket bottom horizontal as you raise the arms, the control you are referring to is likely the one to lock the control and avoid the loader moving such as accidentally lowering when you are driving down the road.

It turns the power on or off to the live third function (grapple)

Hey guys thanks for the replies!!! I think eserv is talking about the same button. It isn't the one farther down that "locks" the handle from moving all together. It is about halfway down and is on a tab that is wellded to the shaft,so it wasn't added on later.

Yep agree with eserv, its the white round button, moves up and down, located on the front end loader control stick. That is the power for the third valve function, down is on, up is off. safety lockout or somesuch.

It should light up when you push it down. The light will go off when you push on it again and it come up.

They light up very faintly and unless you are in semi-darkness you can't see it.

The idea of the button is if you are using the loader without a third function attachment you should turn it off with the button. Purpose being so you don't accidently push the "up" or "down" button on the knob, which if activated would hydraulicly load the circuit unnecessarily.

Push the button once and it locks in the down position. Push it again and it locks in the up position. Down activates, up deactivates.

If you look at this picture, it's the white round button about halfway down the control lever. The two black buttons on the knob are the function up/down buttons.

What ovrszd said. The light in mine went out a few months ago...about 800 hours on the machine.
When I shut down I've tried to make a habit of after the engine stops, turn the key on, then hit the on/off button, then the up & down buttons a couple times (to relieve any pressure that might be in that circuit), then back off. I don't like to leave any pressure in the hydraulic system when the tractor is shut down.
