I am looking at a 4310 hst with a loader and ag tires. The loader is a kubota and it comes with a cheap back blade. The tractor shows 1700 hours but engine was replaced at around the 1000 hr mark due to being run low on oil. The tractor is owned by my friends boss and was used for his concrete business. Looks like it did mowing duty around the shop and pulled stuff around the job site. He is asking 9500. Does this sound reasonable? I have been looking in the 5-6 range and that gets a 40yr old tractor/loader around here. Step up a little more and I am finding newer tractors but they are smaller and older than this machine and usually don't have a loader. This tractor is in decent shape cosmetically but has spent some time outside, I would say it is in average condition. Rear tires are near new, fronts are decent but have significant wear around the outside. The front axle doesn't seem to have any camber adjustment so I am wondering if this is just how the tires wear when used on a hard surface. Any info is greatly appreciated.

That price doesn't sound bad, the part that would worry me is a blown engine at 1000 hrs.

That makes me think anybody and everybody has been in the seat and none of them did any maintenance. Has the hyd fluid every been serviced, front axle been serviced? I would ask for service records and see what they say. If it's never been serviced that could be a can of worms you don't want to open. If it has been taken care of it may be a very good tractor for you. Keep us posted.

I'm sure you are right everyone running it. I worked for a large electrical contractor. Our equipment was often times abused but it was always serviced and fixed when it did break. Hopefully this was the same way. I looked at it without anyone present. I couldn't run the machine but all the hoses looked good and there were no noticeable leaks anywhere. Even if the machine did have some issues, I can't find any comparables near that price. My only concern was why the front tires had worn funny. I didn't know if that was normal. I plan to drive it tomorrow and maybe get some questions answered. Thanks for the input.

I understand what you're saying and that price on a tractor that size is rare. If it makes you feel better the front tires on my L3000 are worn and the rear tires still look new. Seems very common when a loader is left on all the time and they see some asphalt miles.

Many small contractor or other businesses that use tractors don't have fleet managers to keep the service up on them. It's not someone's assigned job and guess what goes by the wayside when nobody has time to deal with it and they aren't assigned it... yup, upkeep.

So, it might be beat to heck and yup, checking the oil is important before you fire the motor up, so clearly a case of something not being done right.

Picked up the 4310 today. What a great machine. Working in the yard and having this much fun should probably be illegal. I briefly considered buying an older b6200 that was in amazing shape but decided it would be too small to fit my needs. Ended up getting this for 8750 with the back blade and he include a beat up brush hog. I groomed the driveway and got to work moving some dirt in my timber area. I think this machine is perfect for what I need. It seems to run great and all the fluids indicated that some maintenance had been kept up with. Thanks for the advice. I look forward to learning more about this machine and its capability. I plan to do a full fluid change in the near future just so I know what has been done. I also plan to build a 3 pt log splitter for it in the future.
