Hello all,
I am new to Kubota and this forum. I recently purchased a Kubota L 3400 D serial #89683 (though I do not understand this number, I cannot find anything online listing details) I believe it's a 2004 or 2006 year. It had 362 hours when I purchased it and is getting close to the recommended 400-hour service. It has a third function up front and additional hydraulic function in the rear that I have not used. The manual says UDT or Super UDT fluid. My questions are does the additional functions mean more fluid is needed, which fluid type SUDT2 or UDT, can i get the specific filter part numbers somehow from the serial number? Also, in general is this decent model and dependable? Thanks in advance!

Oil and hydraulic fluid discussions go on forever on this site, lots of opinions for each.
I used SUDT2 only.

You don't have to use Messick's but you can get part numbers there. I just picked them up at the local Kubota dealer, no shipping costs.

Imho, I think it's a great model.
The extra amount of oil is going to be negligible.
On tractors, I like to measure how much oil comes out. I Just pour it into old oil jugs, so I know how much came out. Then, I add the same amount of new back. On occasion, i've come across manuals especially for tractors that aren't quite perfect let's say so this way I know I don't overfill.

The difference in price between Standard UDT and Super UDT2 is small and there are some performance benefits with the latter. There are other non-Kubota options too that you might consider if price is a concern to you.

Personally the advantage of using K's SUDT-2 over any other oil is the better value in the long run.

Using another oil that "says" it is Kubota compatible in this specific case is too costly over time.

Welcome aboard and congrats! If you don't have an owner's manual you should get one. Better yet is the Workshop Manual. I'm not familiar with that particular model. Many Kubotas have things that may not be obvious to new owners such as needing to remove multiple drain plugs to get all the oils/fluid out.

You have a L3400DT, file away and forget the serial number it doesn't do you any good.

If you really need the year (which doesn't mean swat for parts) walk into a dealer and ask when it was sold, as that is the year, it's the way tractors work.

Go here to find part numbers:

The L3400's are good solid tractors.

L 3400 D serial #89683 (though I do not understand this number,

The L3400 means it is an L series tractor, 3400 means it's 34.7 Gross Engine Horse Power.
Your 89683 serial number has a production date of 04/14/2010. It was sold originally by Dickinson Equipment, Inc.
