I removed the breather plug and greased the front zerk until the breather overflowed. Then I switched to the back side front axle zerk and have used what seems to be half a tube and still no overflow from the breather. Should that one overflow also?

No overflow on the rear, too much grease and it will just force out the seal

If you put too much grease in the rear it will just blow past or out the seal and fill the propeller tube full of grease, you don't want that to happen.
Half a tube is way too much!
I would pull the tube and clean it out and check the seal.

Got me worried. I just went out there in the dark to check and there is no overflow of the seals at all. I'm not qualified to pull that shaft out I doubt, so it will stay.

The manual says to add grease until it overflows, which is what I was doing, this one just never did. I don't remember ever having any "hard" pumps on the grease gun, it just kept going.

Is there a chance grease gets in the axle housing with the oil? Is there a chance it was just bone dry? It seem that all other grease points on this brand new tractor had zero grease in it. Which is why I'm doing it an checking them all at only 9 hours on the tractor total.

Am I risking damage? Seems unlikely?

Yep the seal that it leaks past in question is inside the tube that covers the propeller shaft.
You won't see the grease on the outside.

Thinking about removing the grease zerk and riding around with it out to see if any will come out.

Nope, nothing came out. Oh well. We'll see how tough this thing is.

Pulling the cover back is as simple as removing one bolt.

Show and tell time. So, I was able to get the cover back (it will only go so far) and look what we found...

Grease.png

I was able to remove all of that grease and a decent amount that was still inside the cover after sliding it back. I did that with a big zip tie (the end was pretty good for scooping).

Once I had as much out as possible I put the cover back on, BUT when I did this rubber seal popped off the end of the cover.

I was able to get that put back on, seems like it just press fit on.

Do you think this created a problem with that particular seal? I wouldn't think so, but it's just something else for me to worry about.

Thanks for all the help!

Are you gonna be in deep water with this tractor? If not put everything back proper and worry on something more important.

TADA... We now know where the grease went.

Not and issue with the seal on the tube it's supposed to just side into place.
