Looking at an l3540, 2009 with 643 hrs. Comes with front end loader, 6' clipper, 6' box blade, 6' hay rake, PTO driven auger with 6" and 9" bits and a hay spear.
Tractor is in perfect condition, not even a scratch. Always kept indoors. Is $16,000.00 a good price?

do the 'build a tractor' thing online to get a price. I figure $1K per implement ?
Now as to 'value'....IF you will use an implement, it's probably woth the $1K.
How old is it ? I could put 600hrs on it in a year, or just 10. My goto D-14 only gets 200 /yr, the giantpumpkin lifter 1 hr.See the mtce log if possible.
Maybe others who own the SAME tractor will reply...
On the surface it sounds 'ok'....though

It's a bargain, if it's as you say perfect (or even near perfect). The implements are all extra. Now what is the hay rake? What size and brand?

I'll give you a heads up. If it's at a dealer, it won't be there long! Within days it'll be sold.

This is the last series without the tier 4 situations folks are wishing to avoid, and they go quickly because of it. A clean tractor as you describe is going up in value, not down.

It sounds like a deal to me and the tractor may be old enough not to have the Tier IV emission stuff like a DPF. That's a definite win!!

It's probably sold by now. :D

If you're at all interested in it, don't waste anytime reviewing its condition and making an offer.

Good luck!

Tier 4 are a bunch of requirements put into place by the EPA which apply to tractors above 25 horsepower. They reduce emissions and may greatly increase maintenance due to the extra computer controlled equipment. These tractors have a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and much of the tractor operation is under the control of a computer. This is the main reason I opted for an L2501 over the next higher horsepower L series tractor.

Frank, just curious, was the purchase from a dealer or individual?

Don't be concerned about the tier 4 stuff. If you stay on the forum (and we hope you do) you'll pick up enough info. to know you're LUCKY.

Your xx40 series tractor is what is called the Grand L, meaning it has features the other "L" did not. Here's a brief lesson I'm sure you'll enjoy.

D2Cat - Thanks so much for the info on my l3540. I think I've got a great tractor. I actually bought it from a friend in Illinois and won't get it until May. We're moving to Colorado from Mississippi and were in Central Illinois when I found this tractor. I don't think my truck is strong enough to make the trip towing a big enough trailer with all the implements plus I don't have a trailer yet. In May my friend is coming for a visit and bringing the tractor. I guess then I'll have to invest in a trailer since the Kubota dealer is about 60 miles away.
We have 43 acres to maintain and a 1/2 mile gravel driveway which will need tending to summer and winter.
My wife and I are soon be retired lawyers and ready to live the dream.
I've really enjoyed the forum and intend to check in regularly.

Frank, if you're just going to use the tractor on your property the only time you'd need a trailer for the tractor is possible service/maintenance. Might want to check with that local dealer and see what he'd charge to come pick up, and return the tractor when needing his service. If it's a reasonable fee, it would be cheaper than purchasing a trailer. The trailer requires purchase, tire upkeep, taxes, space, etc. Cheaper to hire the hauling!

Find out the service your friend did, when, etc. Chances are you won't need any dealer service for a couple of years, at least. If your mechanically inclined at all, you can do most anything required. And, it you hang out here once in a while you can ask any question and usually get a quick straight forward answer.

You'll enjoy the property and the tractor. I have a brother living in Ft. Collins and my mother use to live in Boulder. Isn't Pagosa Springs WAY down south, and have the warm springs to sooth your weary bones?
