I am going to pull the trigger on an American Eagle windmill in the next week and was wondering if anyone here has a windmill that they are or were using. Pro's and con's or any advice.
We are planning on using ours for pond aeration and filtration, (pumping water through a sand filter).

I have had a Koenders diaphragm pump windmill aerator since 2001. It has done an excellent job aerating my 3/4 acre pond. No algae issues since I installed it. Had to put a new diaphragm in it two years ago...other than that, no issues.

I do also have an electric back up for the dog days of summer when we have no wind.

This is it at a distance...only picture I could find.

Those look a lot like the old Aeromotor windmills that were, and still are all over the country.

Here are pics of a windmill tower that was destroyed in the Tinder Fire in AZ a couple years ago. The fire never touched it, but the firestorm created winds up to 70mph, and this place was right on the edge of the canyon where the fire approached from, so it might have seen winds even higher.

I finished the install. I got a couple air stones and an air driven water pump. The windmill is the double bellows model. I’ll post back after I get the water pump running to let everyone know how it’s going.

Sounds good. Once I get everything up and running, and on a good windy day, I’ll post a video. Next part of the project is a pump house followed by a floating dock.

I just saw this, I know of 2 windmills not the yard ones, that are/have been in use for a long time. One I know is like you are using for aerate his big pond. I dont know the specs but on days where there does not seem to be much wind it turns and the water bubbles. The other one is a very old unit that was rebuilt and has I would think a 5 or 6 foot diameter blade unit, and the farmer does use it for water for his cows. I dont know how much water it pumps but there is always water going over the over flow from the stock tanks
