Long story short, I bought a BX2380 three weeks ago and at that time I ordered a front weight bracket and five suitcase weights. The bracket showed up last week but I am still waiting for the weights.

I need to till up my daughters yard tomorrow because the lawn people are coming Monday to seed and straw it (new house and new yard). Daughter was not aware that she was responsible for the tilling until yesterday ...thought the lawn installers would do it.

Spent the day trying to figure out how to temporarily weight my front end so I can keep it on the ground with the tiller mounted tomorrow.

Here is what I came up with.

That is 360 pounds of lead in the bucket.:rolleyes:

If you had the time and material to make that good looking frame why not weld up a box and drop the lead into it? looks as good if not better the suitcase weights. Well done.

360lb Plus... I'd say.
Looks to be at least 16" in front of the front axle, this would increase it's effect as front ballast.

Nice work!

You may want to put a cover on the bucket to keep things from bouncing out.
You do not want to add lead to the soil.

NICE ! but, yeah always a buttt......
I'd add another strap, even then ,BOTH straps would break on me and I'd be pickin up shiny trinkets for 2-3 hours....
Did you think about melting the lead down ? might only be 1/2 a bucket, and closer to the ground.
I did somethin similar and used 2-25# real cast iron barbell weights. A 10 minute bodge,5 years ago.... yeah, still on....

Well, it worked! Below is a picture of the whole contraption ready to roll.

Sodark: Yea, me too. Couldn't come up with a steel bucket. Thanks!

BigG: I didn't have any sheet stock or that might have happened. Thanks!

Skeets: Some day they will be. About 4680 45 caliber 500 grain Postell BPCR for my Sharps and Rolling Blocks. Only get 13 per pound with loss from dross.

GreensvilleJay: I did end up adding another strap...probably not what you had in mind though. Used it to truss up the bucket so it wouldn't split.
