Who do people use to do tire changes on the larger rear wheels?
I can not find anyone who has a machine large enough to fit a 22".
or
Are all large like semi size tires done by hand?

Those would normally be done by hand. Find a big truck tire shop near you. They will be able to help

Or if you’re willing, they are not hard to do at home. Very similar to mounting a bicycle tire, just larger scale. Harbor freight sells “tire bars” or you can use pry bars if careful.

I would much rather change a tubeless truck tire than any other tire. I can change 2 quicker than 1 car tire. 1 long bar, 1 short, little soap, simple.

I just do my own, a couple really good tire bars and you can get a tire off a rim in nothing flat, I learned how to deal with semi tires and tractor tires early on!

You can break the bead with a bottle jack or good aim with a sledge. ;)

If you don't want to do it yourself, take it to real tire shop, not an automotive tire chain.

That is who I have been checking with, I would have thought there was a machine for "big rigs"
shows my lack of knowledge there.

So I guess there is no bead to break if they can be done at home?
May give it a shot once I have the tires and tubes,
what could go wrong. :D

Put the tire on the ground under the receiver hitch of a truck, put the jack between the receiver and the tire right at the edge of the rim, jack it up, most of the time it will pop the tire right off the rim some times a hardwood 2x4 and a hammer are needed.

If you have a spare tractor with a loader, you can use the bucket edge to do the same thing. ;)

And yes I did fix the title typo! :D

I have a nearby portable tire repair man. He gets calls all the time to fix truck tires on the local highways at all times day and night. Also fixes tractor tires for all the local farmers.

When he's in the area on another job he reduces his service charge. Charges me $50 to change 13.6x24 tires on an L305 for the pair!

Many tire shops charge $2 inch dia. (wheel size). So a 24" wheel would be $48.

Nice, best I have found is $50 EACH!
Worth trying myself I think.

They do exist, just not as common.

I’ve seen that bottle jack method and it works well. The tool the big truck guys use is called a duckbill hammer.

You can also drive another (heavy) vehicle (truck, tractor) onto the sidewall of the tire next to the rim to pop a bead off.

Talked to the Lead Mechanic in the shop today, asked how they did
big truck and grader tires.

"We have a machine" :D

I told him everyone in the Springs wanted to do them by hand,
he said "bring them in, I'll show you how to use it, we haven't
done it by hand in 10 years".

Machine must be expensive if they don't have one down the hill.

"start at 10K"

The damn Government has everything!

Finally got around to dis-mounting the old tractor tires, the Hunter TCX 640
made short work of it about 10 minutes each. :D Thanks work. :D

Here are some photos of the process.....

here is a video of the machine in use.....

Used the standard tire machine to do the fronts.
