Looking to buy my first Kubota possibly a l3901 with 60" implement's ? I have 2 acres at the house that will be rotary cut and loader used to clean horse stalls.i also have 175' of drive way to box scape and maintain. I think the 3901 is a bit much for that, but I also have (2) 1.5-2 acre food plots that I want to plant yearly on my deer lease. Rotary tiller will be used for plots. Am I in the right neighborhood for size?

My friend bought the L3901 and loves it. It does everything he wants except one thing, it won't fit into his horse stalls. (He has 15 acres.) Yep, he forgot to measure it before he bought it.

So, you may want to make sure that it will fit in the stall or you will be doing what he does and pull up to the door and he shovels it out into the bucket by hand.

It is way more then you need. I would check out the HST L2501. It is the same size but less money and should do everything you wrote about. It is also a simpler tractor i.e. less to go wrong.

The 3901 is probably more tractor than you need but few folks complain about having too much tractor for intended purposes.

I have about the same situation as you do, throw in some snow plowing, and my L2501 is just perfect for the job, one thing that you might consider is the 2501 has no emissions, no regen etc. very simple tractor, but very adequate for my needs.

Thanks guys, I will definitely look at the 2501 again as well. I have seen some thing saying the 2501 likes to bog down while cutting thick grass and tilling virgin soil. I would hate to need a little more power and not have it, but I do like the sound of no dpf

Thank Chris

I***8217;m in a similar boat. 8 acre horse farm, 2 of it pastures, another 2 lawn and nice paddocks, 3 or so woods. I***8217;m thinking L2501. It saves me a couple grand, the hydraulic implements will do the same, and 19pto hp is probably enough for my bushhogging and long paved driveway for snow. I***8217;m still stuck on b2650 or L2501.

I***8217;d think you want at least a 60***8221; rototiller. That might need a good bit of pro power, don***8217;t know. That might decide your engine size.

Choose a tractor that's big enough, then jump up a size or so. Anything that feels "big enough" at the dealership will feel too small after you've become familiar with it.

The L2501 CAN handle a five foot tiller - the power is there - but a four foot tiller may be more appropriate. It does have a bit more power than my old Mitsubishi D2350 and the old Mitsubishi had no problem with my tiller in virgin ground. You just go slow. I was going to purchase the larger tractor until I learned it had emission control stuff - diesel particulate filter. I had one on my Dodge truck. That's why I opted for the L2501. I've only got ten acres so it's a good fit for me.
