Hey guys... I have a BX1880 with a Land Pride 60" snowpusher. It has a poly cutting edge, but it has metal shoes. I want to make some Poly ones. My question is what do I make them from, and where do I order it from? This is used on an asphalt driveway. the piece would be like 1/4" thick 2" wide and maybe 18" long....apparently Land Pride doesn't offer Poly shoes for these things....

Thanks in advance for the help!!!!

I was thinking about using 'Trex' or other 'plastic wood ' decking for skids.
My BX23S bucket has nice 5/8" holes ,so I could mount a strip of Trex using countersunk elevator bolts.
If your snowpusher has skids like a snowblower, just mount sections of 'skid sized' Trex where the steel ones mount.
You should be able to get scraps of Trex from any seller/installer.

That Trex idea is great...

I have a customer where I can get thick sheets of teflon as I also want to make ***8220;softer***8221; shoes for my snowpusher.

A 1x6x8 Trex would create dozens of replaceable shoes...

I have access to HDPE sheets, so that's a no brainier for me. I used 1" for the one I had built locally and speced it so when I installed the skids on the shoes he made, it just kept the cutting edge off the ground.

UHMWPE would be better if you're ordering something. It's the white material cutting boards are made from. Shoot, you can even just use a cutting board, but you'll have to replace it more often.

I did use UHMWPE for my snowblower shoes, but it just a liner bolted to the metal shoe.

The stuff is REALLY tough.

Are you guys concerned about damaging the hot top? Because steel cutting edges from state road trucks, snowplows on pickups, snowblowers on tractors and skidsteers dont hurt asphalt or concrete paved surfaces unless the pavement is broken up. Just run it with steel.

Motion - in my case, I had a brand new concrete paver patio I didn’t want to scratch up.
I had modified my shoes before, and the steel bases were sure to do that.....plus, I put all 1,300+ of them down, so I’m pretty protective of them. [emoji15]
That UHMWP is tough and slick. Otherwise, I agree normal steel shoes or cutting edges shouldn’t scrape up blacktop.

Yeah I understand the concrete pavers they do scratch with steel cutting edges so im guessing the steel feet would do the same.

One thing I learned doing mine was UHMWP is better worked after freezing it.

Can work it pretty easy with woodworking equipment but colder the better.

Was a tip from OTT.
