What is the purpose of this part of the tab? Is this to add strength/rigidity? Someone suggested it might be to bolt a wheel weight. As you can see from the picture the tab is rusted. Some even worst than this one. Can I just put a flat plate instead of that Z shaped one? I would use the same thickness.
