I wonder what they will go for,, never wanted a deuce and a half I dont think i could afford to fuel it,, now that crawler might just but a fun little toy,, that is if they have not been beat to death like most stuff on GSA auctions are

Like Skeets said, the few times I thought something was worth the effort to bid on and finally got it home to then find out that to repair it was going to cost more than the finish product would be worth, I quit even trying.

Been my experience with military surplus vehicles and public auction machinery that it's all been run hard and put away wet.

If you take a close look at the Duce in the picture, note that the front bumper is bent down from impacting something..... hard.

If I was to buy one, first thing I'd check is the hour meter (all military vehicles have one), make sure it's operable and check the total hours an compare that to the overall condition before even bidding.

One thing I've learned the hard way over the years is that with rare exceptions, any equipment at auction has been run hard and not maintained. Maintenance becomes secondary when the owner knows the equipment is going bye-bye.

Hour meters reading with odometer reading will tell how much the vehicle has been run without moving. Gives you an idea of engine wear compared to the rest of the vehicle.

For example city owned trucks may set all day idling, but not moving...so engine is wore, but mileage is low.
